Voice logging tape conversion is a critical service for organizations that have legacy voice recording systems, such as those that record a broker-dealer trading securities, or busy call centers that handle highly regulated information, as they were extensively backed up onto backup tapes. The tapes most commonly used were not particularly robust enterprise level tape systems. The systems commonly included a central server that managed and recorded multiple voice channels, with phone calls being backed up in a multiplexed fashion onto tape. It is not uncommon to have hundreds of thousands of calls recorded onto these tapes.
Legacy voice recording systems are often no longer supported, and IT staff are faced with the challenging task of providing voice calls for a specific individual for a specific time period, with no means to either find or produce the calls as a .WAV file for the requestor.
Recovering call recordings and logs requires expertise in the source technologies used to create backups that are no longer maintained inside organizations. Many large financial institutions face significant challenges in the proof-of-compliance that recovering this data poses.
S2|DATA’s legacy voice-logger tape processing helps large-scale corporations across diverse vertical markets tackle this challenge. We handle voice logging tapes from legacy systems, such as NICE and Verint Systems. We:
Our bespoke software solution TRACS-VOICE builds a data archive of all required files. It does this independently from the plethora of voice-logger system methodologies. It also applies a consistent naming convention structure to restored files, including:
As a result, you can search, extract, convert to .WAV, and play any required file.
Voice-logger systems, often from the 1990s to 2010 period, utilize helical scan technology such as 8MM, 4MM (DDS), and AIT. As such, these can be problematic because of their physical condition and age. Our expert engineers run tape drives and cartridges from all vintages of backup tape and other media. Consequently, we have developed proven techniques and protocols to restore data from even poorly maintained or damaged cartridges.
Where the cartridge itself is damaged beyond a normal read, see Data Recovery.
